Physical Therapy

What do physical therapists do?

Physical therapists are highly-educated health care professionals who help their patients reduce pain, increase mobility and improve their daily functioning, be it for activities of daily living and/or high level work or sport. In many cases our intervention can prevent the need for surgery and reduce long-term medication use and their side effects.

In addition, our work can prevent or manage problems to achieve long-term health benefits through fitness, strength and wellness orientated programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.

What is the physical therapy treatment process?

The physical therapy session begins with a thorough evaluation that identifies your problems, difficulties and deficits. Based on these findings and your aims and goals, an individual and specialized treatment plan is established.

Follow-up treatment sessions involve using various techniques, to treat the issues that were identified during the evaluation and are important to you. These will promote the ability to move, increase strength, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability. Adjustments are made throughout the treatment plan as necessary to achieve your goals and outcomes.
